The Amelia Earhart Playhouse presents "The Mountaintop" by Katori Hall.

This fictional retelling casts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on his last night on Earth -- set in Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel in 1968. In this fictional account, an exhausted Dr. King, who has just delivered one of his most memorable speeches, retires to his room with a request for coffee from the motel as a storm rages outside. The mysterious motel maid delivers the coffee with surprising news, forcing the Civil Rights leader to confront his destiny and his legacy.

Performance dates are:

  • June 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m.
  • June 12 and 19 at 2 p.m.
