U.S. Women's Soccer Team Visit

Armed Forces Entertainment brings you a rare opportunity to mingle with and learn from top-level athletes who have dominated their game. Sarah Huffman, Natasha Kai, Kassey Kallman and Ashley Nick have played soccer around the world and are making five stops in Germany for AFE. The title-winning superstars will lead player clinics and share their time with fans during meet-and-greet events. 

Stop by the Hainerberg Exchange from 10:30 a.m. to noon to get to know them.

Additionally during their visit the players will conduct soccer clinics and skill competitions for youths ages 5-18 at the Newman Village Soccer Field on Clay Kaserne. These include:

• 2-3 p.m. -- Question and answer session with players and coaches
• 3:15-5:15 p.m. -- CYS Youth Soccer Clinic at Clay's Newman Village sports field. All clinic participants must be properly dressed for soccer to include cleats, shorts or sweat pants with no pockets and shin guards worn underneath the socks.

Player biographies:

Sarah Huffman -- The Danbury, Conn., native attended the University of Virginia where she was a four-year starter, a two-time NCAA All-American, a two-time Soccer America MVP and a three-time first team All-ACC selection. Hoffman began her professional career in 2007 playing for the Washington Freedom, helping them to a W-League Championship, and went on to play with Norway’s Røa IL, leading the team to a Norwegian Women’s Cup in 2008. She continued to play professionally from 2009-11, and during the inaugural NWSL season in 2013, she appeared in 14 matches (with 11 starts) for the Western New York Flash and started each of their two playoff games, playing 72 minutes in the championship match. Internationally, Huffman was a member of the U-16, U-17, U-19, U-21, and U-23 U.S. Women’s National Soccer Teams. She helped her team win the 2002 FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship and won the Nordic Cup with the U-21s in 2004, 2005, and 2007. In 2010, Huffman was called to play with the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. She retired from the sport in 2014 to became an admired assistant coach for her alma mater, the University of Virginia.

Natasha Kai -- Kai started her first training camp with the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team in February 2006. That year she made her team debut as a substitute at the 2006 Algarve Cup in Portugal, scoring in her first two games against Denmark and France. She became just the fourth player in history of the national team to score in her first two caps, and the first-ever player from Hawaii to play for the Women’s National Team and to make a Women’s World Cup Team. In 2007, Kai played in seven games heading into the final pre-Women’s World Cup match, starting in four. She had two assists and one goal that came in a 2–0 win over China at the Four Nations Tournament to give USA the tournament title. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Kai scored the winning goal in overtime to lead the U.S. past Canada in the quarterfinal round. The U.S. team defeated Japan in the semi-finals and then defeated Brazil in the finals to capture the Gold Medal.

Kassey Kallman -- Kallman’s first call-up to the U.S. National Team came in January 2011 after her freshman season at Florida State University. Kallman tallied 94 career starts in four seasons at Florida State and remained a solid fixture in the Seminole backline her entire four years in college, leading FSU to three straight College Cup appearances (2011, 2012 & 2013), two ACC titles (2011 & 2013) and a conference regular season championship in 2012. She earned MVP honors at the ACC Tournament in 2013 and earned a spot on the All-ACC first team and All-Tournament team. She was also an important member of the 2012 U-20 U.S. national team that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan. In February 2014, Kallman was among six players drafted into the National Women’s Soccer League, five of them, like Kallman, members of the winning 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup U.S. team. In that 2014 tourney, the USA defeated the U-23 sides of Japan (1–0), Sweden (2–1), and Norway (2–1) to win the tournament. Kallman went the full 90 against Japan and Norway.

Ashley Nick -- This California native played college soccer at the University of Southern California from 2005 – 2008, was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team in 2007 and 2008, and was the captain of USC’s first National Championship team in 2007. Nick went on to play for professional leagues in Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Cyprus and Italy from 2010–2013 before moving back to the states to join the Pali Blues and soon after, Sky Blue FC, in addition to the Houston Dash, and the Western New York Flash. In the 2015–16 American off-season, Nick scored five goals in six Cypriot First Division games with Apollon Limassol. In September of 2018, she joined Italian Serie A club Juventus, becoming the first American player, male or female, to join Juventus. As part of the 2018-19 Juventus FC team, she helped win championships in both the Serie A and Coppa Italia Championships. Nick returned to play with Kansas City NWSL in 2021.
